“The city on the sand” was founded in 1641 by the Danish-Norwegian King Christian IV. Agder College with approximately 8000 students has made its mark on the city, and there is a thriving cultural environment. The city is also host to the annual Quartfestival, which is regarded as one of the country’s best music festival for young people. In addition to being Southern Norway’s largest city, Kristiansand is the international hub for air, rail and ferry travel to and from this region. Population: 76.000.
